The anticipation for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness continues to grow! Evil Dead and Spider-Man director Sam Rami is bringing together a wildly multiversal cast in this upcoming scary, mind-bending sequel. WandaVision is almost nearing the home stretch and those events of the Disney+ series will have major ramifications on the Benedict Cumberbatch lead sequel. The ensemble cast so far includes Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez. Production is looking to resume again very soon and The Direct has dropped an exciting exclusive!

New Character Alert

According to the article, 1917’s Adam Hugill is the latest actor to join the ensemble cast. As for what character Hugill will play well, let’s just say that it’s an outlandish choice and one we probably didn’t expect in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Direct mentions that Hugill will be playing the magical alien minotaur, Rintrah. For those who aren’t familiar with this character, Rintrah’s first Marvel Comics appearance was in Doctor Strange Vol. 2 #80.

He’s an alien minotaur with green fur who hails from the planet R’Vaal in another dimension.  In the comics, Rintrah acts as Stephen’s apprentice in the ways of the mystic arts. Rintrah’s power set includes the ability to cast illusions, blasts magical bolts, projects an astral form, levitate, and can use dimensional travel. Even with magical abilities, he also has a few interesting tricks. Due to his R’Vaalian biology, Rintrah can shapeshift, communicate telepathically, teleport vast distances, and blend into any surrounding like a chameleon.

What This Means

Doctor Strange 2 is certainly looking at taking some advantages of its multiverse premise. With a stacked cast such as this, I for one am hoping that Feige and company are able to balance out each character’s screentime. It’s also great to see that Marvel Studios is continuing to bring in more unknown talents, like Hugill, as Phase 4 moves forward into a new era for the MCU!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to release in theaters on March 25th, 2022. Are you excited for the sequel? Let us know in the comments below!
