After almost thirty years of denials about his involvement in the death of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, whom he married in 1985, O.J. Simpson passed away on April 10. He died at the age of 76, following a diagnosis of prostate cancer.
In addition to having two kids with Brown, the former NFL player had three children with Marguerite Whitley, his first wife. But while his family is grieving, did you know that a few weeks prior to his death, Simpson had made an awkward joke about ‘confessing’?
During a podcast appearance earlier this year, the father of five made an astounding joke about not confessing while talking about whether or not men should open up to women.
Decoding O.J. Simpson’s Cryptic ‘Confessing’ Joke
During his February appearance on the It Is What It Is podcast, O. J. Simpson talked about the idea of men opening up to women and made a startling joke about not wanting to confess.
He was a guest on the American rappers Cam’ron and Mase’s podcast, where they addressed a statement made by NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal that men should not be open to women. Why? Because it might be used against men.
When asked about his thoughts on O’Neal’s remarks, before smirking and bending toward the camera, Simpson answered:
“When you say ‘open up to women,’ I don’t know what he’s talking about. Is he talking about confessing? Then no, man. Don’t confess. I think he is right. Don’t say nothing.”
He continued:
“Leave me out of the confession”.
Although Cam’ron and Mase both laughed at Simpson’s comments, the hosts appeared surprised by the direction the late football player had taken the discussion. The latter lost his fight with prostate cancer, according to his family, who made the announcement of his passing on Thursday.
On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.
He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.

He is, after all, renowned for grabbing news. In August 2023, Simpson made headlines when he contrasted the length of his own prison sentence for armed robbery with the penalty handed to former NFL player Henry Ruggs (per Daily Mail).
O.J. Simpson Passes Away After Battle with Prostate Cancer
O.J. Simpson, the formerly adored NFL star and Hollywood actor, passed away on Wednesday at his Las Vegas home. He was acquitted in the 1994 murder trial of his ex-wife, which captivated the country (see NY Times). He had been battling prostate cancer.
In what was dubbed the ‘trial of the century’, a jury in Los Angeles found Simpson not guilty of killing Nicole Brown Simpson. Considered one of the all-time great running backs, he spent eleven seasons as a player in the National Football League (NFL). Speaking of his Hall of Fame career, Simpson once said (via the NY Post):
“I was part of the history of the game. If I did nothing else in my life, I’d made my mark.”
However, his rise to fame in Hollywood and as an athlete took a sharp turn when he was accused of killing his ex-wife and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in Los Angeles.
Well, the 6-foot-1 former athlete gave us the impression that he was well in a brief social media video posted two months before his death. He did, however, look quite thin.
Simpson leaves behind four children from two marriages.
