With the list of complaints from Helldivers 2 fans seemingly never-ending, Arrowhead Game Studios has a lot of work to put into its game. The criticisms are also not unwarranted, as many of these issues directly affect gameplay and ruin the experience for fans.
While the developers work towards fixing the game, a new issue needs to be included in their plan. It seems many Helldivers are being surprised by where and how some enemies of Super Earth appear on the battlefield, and this could cost them many missions!
Spawn Locations in Helldivers 2 Lead to Surprising and Annoying Consequences
Battles in Helldivers 2 can get very hectic. You have constant explosions, bullets flying every which way, and an enemy around practically every corner. The last point is supposed to be a figure of speech, but it seems the developers might want it to be a reality.
Enemy spawns have been an issue in Helldivers 2 for a while now, and players have been very vocal in expressing their annoyance. While the team has been patching issues, it seems this particular problem has yet to find the ideal solution. In a now deleted post, Redditor SoljD2 posted a clip on the Helldivers subreddit showing this exact problem.
It makes sense for enemies to spawn around the player’s general location. But for an Automaton to spawn right next to the player is not normal for any shooter. People in the comments have stated that they too have noticed these issues and that they find them lazy.
Another comment claims that the bot must have been around and been drawn by the player’s fire.
While this particular instance may have been an errant bot simply reacting to gunfire, there are many instances of players seeing enemies just pop into existence with no warning. The issue itself might not seem too big, but it’s the small annoyances that can compound into people abandoning the game.
Arrowhead Has Many Fixes It Must Implement Soon to Keep Players Happy
In hindsight, the account-linking fiasco was only the start of the troubles for Arrowhead. It seems not a day goes by without fans of the series pointing out something that they think should be changed, such as the armor in the game, which breaks the immersion of the experience. It’s another minor detail that Arrowhead may not fix, but fans will notice and remember.
The studio also needs to pull up its socks when building the next Warbond. Viper Commandos was not received well by fans, and many stated that it felt like the studio was trying to shortchange them. The team has since pushed the monthly release schedule for Warbonds in a bid to offer more value.
Overall, the studio has a lot of work to put into its newest game, and this is only possible by directing resources to fix these issues. The extended timeline for Warbonds should help with this, but it will still be a fair bit of time before all issues are resolved.
