When seeing an early build of a game, it’s generally accepted to offer a degree of leniency to the team. This means any glitches, bugs, or other such issues spotted should be considered part of the early build and accepted that the developers would work them out in the final release. But when that game is close to launch, it can raise some concerns.

We finally got the much-awaited release date for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero at Summer Game Fest, and fans can get their hands on the title starting October 8, 2024. However, with just a few months to release, some fans were not entirely happy with what they saw. The art style and character animations look top-notch, but the game’s interface still leaves a lot to be desired.

Several people have shared their opinions on the UI, with many stating the menu and selection screens look unappealing.

Spider-Man 2 had a similar issue when showing a pre-release version of the game. The interface was heavily critiqued and Insomniac reworked it before launch. Spike Chunsoft would do well to listen to the fans’ opinions if they want to create a title that is not only functionally optimal but also aesthetically pleasing.

Fans of the Budokai Tenkaichi series had been wondering when they would get another game in the franchise. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is going to be a nostalgic moment for many, but it is also upping the ante in many ways. Environmental destruction is being taken to the next level, with special emphasis on making it look epic and cinematic.

The game is leveraging the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 to bring a new caliber of visuals. Hellblade 2 also utilized this technology and is easily one of the best-looking games of the year, if not this generation of consoles. The Tenkaichi series has always offered stellar art and visuals, and Sparking Zero seems to be keeping that tradition alive.

With one of the largest character rosters of any game in the series, fans of the anime and manga are going to see many of their favorites, and even some surprising characters, make an appearance. Spike Chunsoft is leaving no stone unturned with their new release, so it’s likely they will also fix the UI before October 8.
