Budokai Tenkaichi Marked a Fighting Series That Holds a Special Place in Gamers’ Hearts
Between all the spin-offs, comics, shows, movies, and more that share Dragon Ball’s legacy, Budokai Tenkaichi remained a fan-favorite video game throughout the years. Originally, the first game came out on the PS2 in 2005. ‘Sparking’ actually comes from the lyrics found in the opening theme of the show, making its way into the game’s title.
Traditionally, the game has focused on a deeper look at how Dragon Ball characters go against each other in a 3-dimensional world. Ideally, players get to learn different movesets and manage their Ki in order to properly execute deadly combos.
The entire gameplay loop thrives on hard-hitting combos and well-timed attacks. Sometimes, better defense and patience can lead to the winds of the tide turning in favor of a player who initially felt weak.
While there’s a lot more we have to learn about the upcoming game, it’s clear that fans are finally getting a game that nurtures the quality and excitement of modern-day tech and newer platforms. What are your thoughts on Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero? Let us know in the comments below.
