Spike Chunsoft, the studio behind this anticipated title, said there will be a points system so that players cannot use an entire team of extremely powerful warriors. The studio even confirmed that they will not aim to have a game considered for esports under any circumstances.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is only a few months away from reaching players’ hands, with hype through the roof. With several promises to fulfill, this anticipated title will have to meet high expectations considering how beloved the Budokai Tenkaichi games were in the past.
Bandai Namco has already promised that this game will live up to the hype and be one of the best titles based on the popular anime of recent years.
Unfortunately, not all news is good, as the studio behind the game, Spike Chunsoft, warned in a recent interview about how the online mode will work. The studio announced the implementation of a points system for online play, which will determine the choice of fighter type.
Combat will involve up to five characters, and this points system will prevent everyone from choosing the same powerful warriors.

This decision by the studio is somewhat controversial but also makes sense. It is very difficult to balance over 160 fighters, so this system could achieve that without everyone selecting the same five warriors. One of the things Dragon Ball has never been able to do is balance its fighters—the anime itself knows that the only strongest warriors are always Goku and Vegeta, with all other fighters, except for some villains, falling behind.
Unlike other games with numerous characters, such as the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm saga, this significant power difference could mean very unbalanced combat. It will be challenging to fully evaluate the studio’s proposed system until the game’s release, but theoretically, despite its unconventional nature, it may work. Another thing Spike Chunsoft clarified is that this game will not aim to be considered for esports under any circumstances.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will arrive on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game has already confirmed several modes, such as the classic story from the anime that can be played from the beginning and split-screen combat, where the player can choose to follow the canon or try a different outcome. Fans of this saga, which began in the early 2000s, are very excited to try this direct sequel that will carry the original Japanese name.
