Goku has always been regarded as one of the strongest characters in anime let alone his influence and power in the Dragon Ball franchise. His strength as compared to any other character has been debated and argued about universally. Fans have been split and united, wondering if Akira Toriyama’s character truly is the strongest an anime character can become.
The debate persists among many characters who can be deemed the strongest in anime but the competition always settles between Goku and Saitama from One Punch Man. The idea that he can always come up with something to defeat his opponent no matter how outmatched he may be can be taken as plot armor, however, another reason could justify just why he has such an ease during battles.
Goku’s Passive Control of Time
In a theory proposed by @pcend on YouTube, Goku’s ability to always have a perfect sense of timing can be deemed particularly peculiar. Whether it is with regard to his instant transmission or the fact that he can show up right as everyone needs him the most, there could be much more to the story than just Akira Toriyama giving him plot armor.
One of the most evident of these instances could be how he can level up out of nowhere when the fight demands it out of him. What could be happening, unbeknownst to Goku himself, is the ability to control and bleed through time. The very fact that he can get a surge of power at the most desperate moments isn’t just a result of his rigorous training but of a secondary power.
He could potentially have the power to manipulate time but may not be aware of it and not know how to control it. This would explain why he always has a way to get around whatever obstacle comes his way.
Dragon Ball Could Create a Character No One Can Beat
Goku as the strongest anime character ever may spark room for debate but if he were to ever realize his affinity for time manipulation and work towards controlling it, things would be much different. The ability to control time is one that can easily overpower anyone who possesses it. For a character like him, someone who already has so much power and strength, an addition like that would only be the cherry on top.
While it can be excused as plot armor, the possibility for there to be a subconscious power helping him through his journey much like how Bardock’s wish keeps him going. The way the story goes, there is always something perfectly lined up for him.
Dragon Ball could potentially change Goku and his story if he discovers this new power. It could also diffuse any possible competition from other manga and anime that propose the idea of another character being stronger than him.
