Bandai Namco and Dimps Corporation announced a massive free update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 that arrived on October 12 with new events, new battle modes, and several new features, as well as a new downloadable content roadmap for the game. A new version of the game will also be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2024, following the new DLC.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is one of the most popular Dragon Ball Z games, where players create their own unique fighter and play as a Time Patroller. The game regularly brings new fighters, skills, and events to keep players engaged, coupled with various multiplayer modes and customization choices.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Gets a Major Update
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was released in 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, and a huge update was released to celebrate the game’s seventh anniversary. The new update brought exciting additions to the game, including a new 3v3 Cross Versus battle mode, a new event called Festival of Universes featuring new rewards and lobbies, and the Ultra Instinct Awoken Skill.
The update also introduced the Welcome Campaign, which will run from October 12 to October 19, allowing players to earn login bonus rewards and a limited-time free trial for DLC characters during this period. The characters include some of the most powerful characters in the game, including Rose Goku Black, Goku (Ultra Instinct), and SSGSS Vegito.

Other characters include Android 13, Android 17 (DB Super), Bojack, Broly (Full Power Super Saiyan), Cabba, Dabura, Frost, Fu, Fused Zamasu, God of Destruction Champa, Jiren, Kefla (Super Saiyan), Magin Buu (Gohan Absorbed), SSGSS Gogeta, Super Baby 2, Tapion, Vados, and Zamasu. The new update also brought avatar level cap unlocks and various feature improvements.
This new update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 comes after the ‘Hero of Justice’ DLC that dropped earlier this year to promote the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie and added characters such as Orange Piccolo and some other exciting additions to the game.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Reveals DLC Roadmap for 2024
In addition to the new update, the new Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 roadmap for 2024 confirms that the game is getting more content next year in the form of DLC. The game will add new playable characters, additional scenarios, and more unmentioned content, although a specific date for the release of the content has not been disclosed yet.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will also be released for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and “more” content is also mentioned; however, it hasn’t been revealed if the new content will be new game modes, cosmetics, or something else. Bandai Namco also released a new teaser trailer titled “Take a Step Towards the Future,” showcasing new characters and a few key arts.
The teaser trailer also revealed the Deluxe Edition, which features early access to Future Trunks and Super Pass 1-4. whereas the Special Edition has early access to Future Trunks, Super Pass, and the Hero of Justice Pack Set. The teaser trailer ends with stay tuned, meaning that players can expect more announcements in the future.
Bandai Namco and developer Dimps have been regularly bringing updates with new content that has kept the game relevant even 7 years after its release. There is no information if Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will be happening sometime or not, but the new update and DLC in Xenoverse 2 will be enough to keep the fans happy.
