Dragonsplague is as real as it gets and unless players educate themselves about it, it could cost them a pawn or two.

Dragon's Dogma 2's Dragonsplague is the Newest Viral Gaming Watercooler Talk, But What is it?

SUMMARY

  • Of all the things Dragon's Dogma 2 players have to worry about in the game, a plague in the game was the least expected twist that continues to cost players their pawns.
  • Pawns initially start whispering about the plague affecting others, and the ones who get infected start showing signs that players should pay attention to, before its too late.
  • While Wakestones can be useful in reviving dead pawns, they're far too difficult to be crafted.

It’s been less than a week since Capcom released Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the game has already been making news for the game’s several unnecessary micro-transactions. Micro-transactions are known to hurt the overall experience for gamers who cannot always pay to get the items needed for a quick win or to find a way to quickly travel in-game.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has now added a new way to hurt players in the form of a plague that hurts the pawns, who follow players throughout the game, leading to the deaths of NPCs in hordes, and has eventually become an important topic of discussion surrounding the game.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Has a Plague and It’s Killing the Pawns and NPCs

Dragon’s Dogma 2 players don’t just have to deal with micro-transactions but an in-game plague as well, that’s affecting the pawns in the game. If players take heed and listen closely to the pawns, they can be heard talking about a plague infecting the people. The pawns continue to drop hints until they’re revealed to be infected by the plague, leading to the players losing their pawns.

These hints can be noticed if the players notice the behavioral and visual changes in the pawns. Once a pawn starts getting infected, they will not take heed to the commands, they will complain of frequent headaches and will soon start having glowing red eyes.

Should a pawn be infected before they’re recruited, a tutorial will flash on the screen explaining Dragonsplague to players for the first time. What’s even worse is if the plague is left unnoticed, it spreads to other pawns as well. Once a pawn dies of Dragonsplague, the resulting screen has an insulting message for the players.

If only you had been more observant, perhaps this tragedy could have been prevented.

Thankfully, players have come up with ways to avoid the plague from being permanent.

Players Can Get Rid of Dragonsplague With or Without a Wakestone

There are ways to prevent the Dragonsplague from spreading to other pawns.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has Wakestones, and if players have one in their inventory, these can be quickly used to respawn themselves or a dead pawn. The catch here is that to craft a Wakestone, players will need to combine three Wakestone shards which can be found scattered across the map.

To spot a Shard easily, players can make use of another consumable called a Dragon’s Gaze, also scattered across the map. For a more convenient method of preventing a Dragonsplague from spreading and infecting fellow pawns, one fan has come up with a rather unique method.

The fan mentioned having sat on a bench and jumped ahead by a week or so, and noticed that his NPCs had respawned along with all the side and main quests.

While this method hasn’t worked for all, as mentioned by some in the comments, the fan also mentioned that several level 2 pawns can be traded for Wakestones or shards.
