Drew Barrymore Explained Her Decision to Forgo Plastic Surgery

In an industry that typically values youth and vitality, Drew Barrymore is one example of someone who has accepted the natural aging process. In an interview with PEOPLE, the 48-year-old actress gave her explanation, saying that it has nothing to do with disliking how cosmetic procedures seem or passing judgment on those who choose to use them.

Instead, she argued that the primary reason she decided against having any procedures was because of her “highly addictive personality”. She added:

“I worry I’d continue to chase it, get this and that done. That scares me, just because of my own approach to things. So, I’m waiting on making any alterations.”

The actress, who struggled with drug and alcohol abuse during her childhood, maintained she has not “done anything” to slow down aging, further adding:

“And I’m going to maintain that as long as possible. I have zero judgment for anyone doing anything. But I don’t see myself resorting to it.”

The Golden Globe winner chuckled and continued, stating:

“And, I look forward to seeing what I look like as a leather bag in the future!”

She does, however, enjoy using cosmetics and trying out various hairdos and color schemes. The Poison Ivy star acknowledged that she “does not know [her] real color” anymore due to her extensive hair coloring regimen.

“We’re recording an album and they’re making us do singing lessons. Half of mine are probably Botoxed so I can’t…..”

As per the outlet, the reality star, 43,  revealed last year that she would “do anything to look and feel youthful.” Meanwhile, during an interview with Allure in 2022, the mother of four disclosed that she had some Botox on her face. Regarding her Botox regimen, she said:

“But I’ve chilled, actually.”

In addition, the founder of KKW Beauty admitted to Allure that she actually cares about appearance, further adding:

“I probably care more than 90 percent of the people on this planet. It’s not easy when you’re a mom and you’re exhausted at the end of the day or you’re in school and I’m all of the above. I do my beauty treatments usually late at night. After everyone’s in bed, I’m doing laser treatments.”

When questioned about her cheekbones and lips, she concluded:
