Based on author Elly Conway’s spy series, Matthew Vaughn tried to recreate the spy genre in today’s generation. Giving the fandom world a real-time sneak peek, the 28-year-old star enthusiastically shared her thrilling moments in the Matthew Vaughn-led film. Dua Lipa in an interview with Variety on Twitter said,

Working with Henry is amazing. Yeah, Matthew is such a great director so I’ve really, thoroughly enjoyed that experience. So we’ll see.”

When asked if she is going to release a soundtrack for Argylle, Lipa hinted that she is currently prioritizing her acting finesse. Hence, there is going to be no Dua Lipa music in the movie. The exciting trailer also showcased the singer performing stunts, riding a bike, and starring as an antagonist, unlike her Mermaid Barbie character in Barbie. Thus, speaking of that Lipa expressed,

The $200 million budgeted film, per Deadline, unveiled a blonde-haired Dua Lipa inviting Cavill, playing Agent Argylle, to the dance. Set to hit theaters on February 2, 2024, the movie revolves around the author of a spy book series, that gets mirrored in the real world, involving international spies. While fans can’t wait for Lipa’s feature film debut, an air of disappointment lingered ahead of Barbie’s release in July.

The Greta Gerwig-led film was a blockbuster smash, grossing over $1.4 billion worldwide, per Dexerto. Even though the film was loved by the fans, they were not completely thrilled by Dua Lipa’s tacky looks as Mermaid Barbie. Hence, they flooded social media with critical comments on Lipa’s blue-haired appearance.

Most fans blamed Barbie’s production team and not the singer herself. Fans claimed that regardless of her overdone look, Lipa slayed her character. The Albanian singer featured with vibrant blue locks, donning a glittery blue mermaid costume. Despite having a $100 million budget, the Mermaid Barbie’s looks seemed more like an outcast to the other characters.

It is probable that Lipa’s impressive performance in Barbie might have landed her the iconic antagonist role in Vaughn’s Argylle. Whether she aces this one too or not, we will just have to wait until February next year.
