Cruise then descended from several feet high in the air to the ground, and went up through a line of spectators to the stage. Since Los Angeles will be hosting the games next, the actor took the flag from Simone Biles and rode off on a bike, as a prerecorded video of him skydiving onto the Hollywood sign was played.
While the 62-year-old has previously participated in the 2004 Olympic Games opening ceremony, this is the first time that the actor has pulled off something like this.
