Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two is now the most anticipated movie of the year, and fans are evidently excited to see what the sequel has in store for them. After the success of the first movie, there is high expectation for the second film to break box office records.
That was not the case with David Lynch’s 1984 rendition. It ended up becoming a massive disappointment after his controversial take on it. Despite that unfortunate event, it won’t stop the cast from meeting this generation’s Dune stars.
Lead Cast Of 1984’s Dune Poses With Timothée Chalamet And Austin Butler
A post from Twitter is currently driving fans crazy as Kyle MacLachlan, from 1984’s Dune, was spotted hanging out with Timothée Chalamet, while Sting takes a photo with Austin Butler. See the post below:

MacLachlan portrayed Paul Atreides in David Lynch’s movie, and while he admitted feeling an odd sensation remembering his ill-fated film, the actor confessed he enjoyed watching the remake. He told ET Online:
“I really enjoyed it. I had an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. I remember I was smiling ear to ear. It really was fun.”
Meanwhile, Sting, who portrayed Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, attended Dune: Part Two’s premiere in New York City. He was accompanied by his daughter, Mickey Sumner.
Denis Villeneuve revealed to NME that he has always wanted to discuss the science fiction franchise with Lynch, though he was aware of how much the director despises his own creation.
“I never had the chance to talk to Mr. Lynch. I would love to. I don’t think he’d be interested to talk about Dune though. I don’t think he had a positive experience.”
Villeneuve professed his admiration and respect for Lynch, but he also admitted he tried to stay away from anything that had to do with the 1984 film.
David Lynch Is Still Bitter About 1984’s Dune
David Lynch has profusely expressed his abhorrence toward the 1984 movie. Even after all these years, he still could not get over how he lost creative control over the project. He does not even want to see Denis Villeneuve’s version because it will only open old wounds. The director explained via Dune Info:
“There’s a huge gigantic sadness in my life because I did not have final cut on that film. Total creative control, I didn’t have it. The film is not the film that I would’ve made had I had that final control. It’s a bit of a sadness.”
While Lynch is still haunted by the past, it seems Kyle MacLachlan and Sting have already moved on. It was good that the 1984 cast held no ill feelings toward the new franchise, and hopefully, in the future, Lynch would give Villeneuve’s version a chance.
Dune: Part Two will see the return of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides as he unites with the Fremen to plot his revenge against the enemies who ruined his family. The movie premieres worldwide on March 1, 2024. David Lynch’s 1984 version is available to stream on Netflix.
