The History of Dungeons and Dragons at the Movies

This isn’t the first time that D&D has been adapted for the screen. In 2000 the tabletop game got the big screen treatment with Dungeons and Dragons, starring Justin Whalin and Marlon Wayans. In 2005 we got Dungeons and Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God and in 2012 we received Dungeons and Dragons 3: The Book of Vile Darkness. However, despite having three films within that franchise, the trilogy is widely panned, with the original film having a 10% critical rating and 20% audience rating on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, directed by Jonathan Goldstein and
John Francis Daley releases in theaters on March 31st.
