Though the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe have been competing with each other for many years now, this has not stopped many actors from being part of both of these franchises. Christian Bale is an excellent example of this, starring in the iconic Dark Knight trilogy as Batman himself, and then working in Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Bale is not the only actor as Ryan Reynolds, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, and even Ben Affleck have been part of both of these cinematic universes.

Dwayne Johnson is one of the most well-recognized faces in Hollywood. Despite this, his 2022 film, Black Adam, was immensely hyped by those involved and failed drastically. Fans were highly disappointed with the movie and this mishap will perhaps be remembered for many years to come. After this, many fans started to speculate if the ex-wrestler would jump ship and take part in a Marvel movie and Johnson was quick to address this.

Dwayne Johnson Talks About If He Will Join The MCU

While promoting his latest movie, Dwayne Johnson was asked if he would ever consider joining the MCU, based on rumors online on the subject. The actor was quick to deny this, stating that though he has immense respect for what Marvel has done, paving the way for the superhero genre, he would much rather focus on his work with DC and help it establish itself better.

“Do I think we’re going to take any kind of bite out of Marvel? That answer is unequivocally no,” He said. “What they’ve done is incredible, what Kevin Feige has done is incredible. I love those guys, they’re all my friends, and they are largely responsible for the economic drive of our business for almost two decades. So we don’t want to be Marvel, we want to be DC and how we do things. That’s what I want. I don’t want to take a bite of that apple, I want to grab a new apple and I want to create from there.”

He then went on to add that even though he is close with a lot of people who work with and in Marvel, he does not want to join an already established franchise for a menial role and would much prefer creating something of his own from scratch.

Dwayne Johnson Wants Marvel And DC To Have A Crossover

Dwayne Johnson has gone on to say that even though he cannot be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he would love for there to be a crossover between them and the DC Universe. Though this has been speculated and longed for by fans, nothing official has been promised by either of the studios. Johnson revealed that he is optimistic that something like this may happen someday.

“I am optimistic,” Johnson revealed. “Just my nature is optimistic. And especially when it comes to creative. Especially when it comes to movies. And especially when it comes to the pantheon of DC superheroes and supervillains. Across the street, we have the pantheon of superheroes and supervillains of Marvel. To me, they can not only exist but they should, in my mind, cross paths one day.”

He added that with the number of amazing characters that exist on both sides of this spectrum, he really wishes for their paths to cross one day. Even though storylines like these have been seen in the comics, Johnson would really like for this to be seen on the big screen as well.
