An exclusive report by Giant Freakin’ Robot stated that the ex-WWE Wrestler has joined the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise officially replacing Johnny Depp. If their words are to be believed, then this franchise starring Dwayne Johnson would be the third spin-off planned by Jerry Bruckheimer and Co.

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has a huge contribution to the career of Johnny Depp. The role skyrocketed his fame to a whole different level and made him a fan favorite in no time. But after a prolonged journey of 5 movies, the legal drama he got involved in cost him several franchises including the currently discussed one.

But the legal drama with the Aquaman actress finally found its closure and was eventually settled after Johnny Depp won the defamation trial. Although the actor clearly stated that he didn’t want to return to the franchise anymore, the fans kept hoping on Disney to somehow bring him back. Last year, when the producer Jerry Bruckheimer was asked about Depp’s comeback, he cleverly replied:

“Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided.”

This update created a heated debate on the internet regarding the return of Captain Jack Sparrow but Bruckheimer also made it clear that they are working on the other planned spin-offs. We are yet to receive any official update from either Dwayne Johnson or the makers regarding The Rock’s inclusion in the saga but it is sure to create an internet fire if the studio confirms it.
