Dwayne Johnson And Dany Garcia Address The Weird Remarks They Get
Dwayne Johnson met Dany Garcia in the early 1990s when he was at the University of Miami. The two married in May 1997 and had a daughter, Ava Raine, in November 2021. But they separated in June 2007 and finalized their divorce in 2008. However, despite it all, they remain great friends and business partners.
When The Rock was asked about his unusual partnership with his ex-wife by Oprah Winfrey in a 2020 interview, he explained that marriage wasn’t for them, but business was. He said:
“It was just one of those things where it wasn’t an ugly divorce. It was just… marriage wasn’t in our cards… but we both had an appetite for business and to accomplish things. And we thought, well, what if we continued to do business together?”

In a Marie Claire interview, Garcia gave her side of the story. She explained how she had to overcome societal judgments. But the businesswoman said that she isn’t upset at anyone for having questions about their partnership. Garcia said:
“I did have to overcome judgments like, ‘Wait, is his ex-wife managing him?'(…) People are trying to put you in a category, not in a bad way, but just so they know how to relate. I had to become very comfortable, very quickly, with creating a new paradigm: ‘Yes, I am his manager. Yes, we were once married. Now, let’s go build sh*t together.'”
It doesn’t look like Johnson or Garcia are bothered anymore by these questions. After all, they run a successful business together and their partnership clearly works well for both of them.
Dwayne Johnson’s latest film, Black Adam, is streaming on HBO Max.
