Recently, Dwayne Johnson went to his private gym, named the Iron Paradise, for a training session that would make anyone quit their gym to save their arms from turning into jelly. The Black Adam actor shared the workout routine on Instagram and called it a chest-back super pump. The Hollywood star performed two exercises in the video. In one he did a bench press with dumbbells and in the other one, he used a cable machine to do a seated horizontal row.

These exercises are great at targeting the back and chest muscles. The bench press pushes the chest muscles while the seated rows help pull the back muscles. While Johnson just shared two moves out of the eight, the actor gave a detailed list in the caption. He explained that he does each exercise for a total of 4 sets with a good 20 reps in each set. As for the weights used, Johnson said that he keeps them moderate, but clearly moderate for him means the 75-pound dumbbells he was bench pressing.

The results of The Rock’s strict workout and exercises are always seen in the movies he does. Black Adam was the recent film where Johnson’s dedication was clearly visible. However, as per a recent report, his behind-the-scenes interference caused Black Adam and Shazam 2 to be tarnished.

In a recent report by The Wrap, the site accused Dwayne Johnson of trying to meddle in Shazam 2 by restricting cameos of characters who appeared in Black Adam. The outlet explains that it’s because The Rock wanted to build his brand around fighting Henry Cavill’s Superman rather than Zachary Levi’s goofy hero. As per the site:

Johnson did plenty of work in public to undermine “Shazam,” chiefly by promoting a face-off between Black Adam and Superman instead of the more canonical link between the hero Zachary Levi played and the former pro wrestler’s own character. Privately, he vetoed a planned post-credits scene in “Black Adam,” which would have seen Shazam recruited by Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, and other costumed heroes, into the Justice Society of America, TheWrap can report exclusively, thanks to disclosures by two high-level Hollywood insiders.”

The outlet also blamed Johnson for crippling the Black Adam and Shazam franchises, and ultimately hurting the DC brand in the process, all because he wanted to further his own agenda. As per The Wrap:

Instead of making a movie, he wants to extend his brand and make a brand centered on himself…By alienating the established property that his character was born out of, and refusing to integrate with other established characters, [Johnson] systematically crippled two franchises, and has harmed DC in the process.”

The accusations are damning and have fueled widespread condemnation of Johnson among DC fans. It remains to be seen if Johnson responds to them.

Black Adam is streaming on HBO Max.
