Dwayne Johnson will be joined by Chris Evans, J.K. Simmons, Kiernan Shipka, and many more. Plot details for the film are kept under covers for now but the screenplay is given by none other than Johnson’s old friend, Hiram Garcia.

According to a report by Puck’s Matthew Belloni, the film with the mystery plot will make Johnson $50 million richer. This is the most the actor has made in his entire Hollywood career so far and is also said to be the most money made by an actor for a single role. Now let’s compare his Red One payday to that of Black Adam’s.

With a budget somewhere between $190-260 million, Black Adam made $393 million at the box office, getting labeled as a box office bomb. For his DCU debut, The Rock made a total of $22.5 million. This means that his salary for Red One is about 2.2x more than what he pocketed in Black Adam. We already knew Johnson is a highly-paid actor, however, $50 million for a single role is a new story all in itself!

Needless to say, when the reports of Johnson making $50 million made rounds on the internet, fans on Twitter had some things to say. The majority of the reaction to the news was negative, with fans stating that Johnson does not deserve such a huge chunk of money and that it should be distributed between writers and other actors instead.

Others turned their attention toward the ongoing strike of actors and writers. For context, the SAG-AFTRA actors joined the Writer’s Guild of America as they protest for protection against AI and better pay. An actor making huge sums of money for a single film while others are struggling for the basics did not seem right to the fans.

Here’s what Twitter has to say about it all:
