Continuing its long-running football franchise under the EA Sports FC banner was one of the only few ways that developer Electronic Arts could have bounced back from the huge blow that came with losing the official FIFA license last year. EA definitely had to instantly come up with an alternative to FIFA, especially considering how it used to release the instalments on an annual basis.
EA has shared numerous details about its upcoming football video game, including a release date, information about its gameplay, various engine upgrades, and much more.
When Is EA Sports FC 24 Coming out?
EA Sports FC 24 will be launched later this month, and with EA dropping the FIFA name for its football franchise for the first time in almost thirty years, the developer has made significant changes to its upcoming rebranded video game. Fortunately, although the name is different, the true essence of the FIFA games will still be very much intact.
Of course, EA Sports FC 24 will play a little differently, but most of the core gameplay that made FIFA so successful and accessible will stay the same. The latest instalment in the franchise is the first mainstream football game that will actually allow men and women to play the same match together. This will be part of the game’s Ultimate Team mode, which will allow players to put together their dream team by choosing from more than 19,000 licensed football players.
Moreover, EA Sports FC 24 will also feature the franchise’s most realistic gameplay yet through an exciting upgrade to the Hypermotion technology it has been using for years. These updates will ensure that each “character” plays exactly like their real-life footballer counterpart. The game is set for release on Friday, September 29, 2023, for both current and last-gen platforms: PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series S and X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
However, if your patience levels are running low, you can get early access to EA Sports FC 24 by buying its Ultimate Edition for $99.99, and play the game a whole week earlier than its official launch. Additionally, in true EA fashion, people who preordered the aforementioned version before August 22 will get other perks as well, like an untradeable UEFA (Men’s and Women’s) Champions League Hero on November 27.
Details About the EA Sports FC 24 Gameplay
EA Play subscribers will also get early access to EA Sports FC 24. But this just means that they will be able to play a trial version of the game for 10 hours only, starting on September 22.
FIFA has been utilizing Hypermotion technology since the beginning of its current generation releases, and it is going to get a new upgrade in EA Sports FC 24. Hypermotion basically pushes motion-capturing technology to generate various animations for all of the players.
Before the upcoming title, the most notable update it received was in FIFA 23, which introduced it to women’s matches as well and added even more animations to give certain players distinctive and unique qualities.
EA Sports FC 24 will feature the latest version of the motion-capturing technology called HyperMotion V, which will be able to create customized animations by taking actual camera footage from real stadiums. EA showcased the technology in its Gameplay Deep Dive video, in which fans witnessed Haaland performing a distinct volley to score against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
This is all thanks to the new HyperMotion V, because animations like these just weren’t possible in previous FIFA titles. We still don’t know exactly how players will get unique customized animations in EA Sports FC 24, but it’s clear that most of the major teams will feel more realistic and fluid than ever.
EA Sports FC 24 Introduces PlayStyles and Engine Upgrade
EA Sports FC 24 will feature PlayStyles, which will give players unique abilities and playing styles by utilizing very real player data from various authentic sources, including Opta. Bringing back the aforementioned Haaland example shows us that one of his signature kicks is the Power Shot, which he performs very accurately from far away. Of course, you can try doing the same with other players as well, but since they wouldn’t have the Power Shot ability, the shots wouldn’t be as effective.
EA Sports FC 24 will have 34 PlayStyles, an engine upgrade to make the clothing physics more realistic, and various game mods, including Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Clubs, and Volta, with all of them featuring new aspects to keep things fresh and interesting.
