Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a movie that has been deemed a cult classic movie, even though it bombed at the box office. The movie was released in 2010 and made on a budget of $85 million. Even though it was based on the comics by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the film only managed to earn $50 million. The movie had positive reviews, but it was not enough to make it a hit.
But as time passed, it became more popular among its peers and was slowly deemed to be a cult classic. People can once again enjoy it since Edgar Wright, the director of the movie, is coming back with another Scott Pilgrim saga. But this time, it is a Netflix animated series. The most difficult task was to gather the original cast to give their voice. But Edgar Wright pulled it off brilliantly.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Will Have The Original Cast
The cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World has established themselves as a few of the most popular actors of the modern generation. Chris Evan, Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin, Aubrey Plaza, Brie Larson, etc., were all part of the original movie. Bringing them all together for the new Scott Pilgrim’s Netflix spinoff was a huge task. But Edgar Wright did the impossible with just an email.

Edgar Wright sent all of them an email explaining the latest project and wanting to bring them back together for voice-over. He mentioned that it would follow the script with a little twist. Wright also wrote that he thought it would be a great adaptation of the original story. So, with the hope of getting the original cast, he sent an email to each of the actors.
Within three hours, they all replied and mentioned that they too were excited to be a part of this project. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off aired on November 17, 2023 and has received positive reviews.
More on Scott Pilgrim Takes Off
Michael Cera has reprised his role as the main protagonist in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. The anime has eight episodes. BenDavid Grabinski is the writer and producer of the anime. The story follows the original plot of Scott Pilgrim, a charming musician who falls in love with a woman and has to struggle with all of her ex-boyfriends.
Edgar Wright’s enthusiasm towards Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comics is truly fantastic. Even though his adaptation was not so much of a hit, he did not leave the project. Most people believe that it was more of it being ahead of time than being a flop. But after 13 years, Pilgrim and company are making their return with their original voices.
It is a great nostalgic vibe, and the excitement is skyrocketing. With a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the new Netflix anime is off to a good start. Thanks to Edgar Wright, the fan can once again relive their childhood.
