One Piece is one of the greatest stories ever told. The fact that Eiichiro Oda first started writing the manga more than two decades ago is itself amazing, and on top of that, it has only increased its popularity over time. The story of a teenager who wants to be the King of the Pirates has kept the whole fandom at the edge of their seats.
One of the most exciting things about One Piece is that there are several mysteries, and as the story goes on, slowly they start to get revealed. One such mystery surrounds Bartholomew Kuma and why he sent the Strawhat Pirates to different locations during the Sabaody Archipelago arc. After years, Eiichiro Oda has revealed the reason in One Piece chapter 1099.
The Disbandment of the Strawhats Was Pre-Planned By Bartholomew Kuma
During the Sabaody Archipelago arc, the Strawhats were disbanded by one of the Warlords, Bartholomew Kuma, with the help of his Nikyu Nikyu no Mi. Due to this, the fans hated Kuma for a long time but forgave him when they found out he did their best and protected the Thousand Sunny for two years when each of the members was training on different islands.

Even though Kuma sent the Strawhats to different places turned out to be in their favor most could not understand how Kuma knew where to send each of them because it was too accurate to be a coincidence. Chapter 1099 of One Piece proved the fans right. Currently, the manga focuses on Kuma’s back story, and in the latest chapter, it showed that he had traveled to several islands to find a cure for his wife, Ginny, and daughter, Bonney.
Bartholomew Kuma knew what island to send each member of the Strawhats to bring out the best in themselves. So, the idea of disbandment was pre-planned. Moreover, he still had a bit of humanity left when he did it, but later was transformed into a war machine known as Pacifista. Eiichiro Oda gracefully connected all the dots to weave something beautiful and left no pages unturned.
More on One Piece
One Piece has entered its Final Saga with the Egghead Arc. Currently, the anime wrapped up the Wano arc, while the manga is focusing on Bartholomew Kuma’s backstory. His past holds a lot of significance to the story. Chapter 1099 revealed all the places that Kuma went to to find the cure for Sapphire Scales Disease. His destinations matched with that of the Strawhats during their time-skip.
Even though traveled to most islands, some were still missing, like Kamabakka Kingdom, Namakura Island, and Amazon Lily. The next chapter might give insights into these places since Sanji, Brook, and Luffy were sent to these places, respectively. A few questions remain, like how he knew Roronoa Zoro would find Dracule Mihawk on Kuraigana Island. That is where the luck factor comes in.
Kuma knew about Mihawk’s residence, but his being present was completely on Zoro’s luck. One Piece has shown Zoro likes to bet things on his luck like he did with Sandai Kitetsu. At the end of the day, Kuma’s instinct proved to be beneficial even though he lost his life in the process. The upcoming chapters will reveal more about the former Revolutionary Army member, and fans will experience some more of Eiichiro Oda’s magic.
