Every great anime like One Piece has a few elemental things that make it great. The first and foremost is the main character and the plot. But the next thing that makes the anime more worthwhile is the villains. All loved the Majin Buu and Frieza saga because it was the villains that pushed the heroes to their edge. The same goes for Madara in Naruto.

In One Piece, the list of powerful villains is never-ending. Akainu, Blackbeard, Kaido, Big Mom, etc. But among all of them, Eiichiro Oda prefers none of them. His favorite villain is not someone typical. Instead, his favorite villain in One Piece will shock a lot of people. Eiichiro Oda said that in the whole One Piece world, his favorite villain is Buggy the Clown.

The One Piece fandom will be shocked to hear that Eiichiro Oda’s favorite villain is none other than Buggy the Clown. Buggy is the captain of the Buggy Pirates. He is one of the first villains to square off against Monkey D. Luffy. He was introduced in the ‘Orange Town’ arc. Formerly, he was the crewmate of Gol D. Roger along with Shanks. After the Roger Pirates disbanded, he created his own pirate crew.

Oda choosing Buggy over all the other powerful villains shows that he is different from everyone. The blue-haired and red-button nose pirate has been one of the on-and-off characters of the manga. He started off as a villain but later became a part-time villain and more of a comic relief. He ate the Bara Bara no Mi Devil fruit, which allowed him to separate his body parts and use them accordingly.

Eiichiro Oda is not afraid to show his love for the character. Fans think he wrote One Piece in such a way that Buggy always got fame, even though he was a scaredy cat. Currently, he is one of the five Yonko of One Piece, and Crocodile and Dracule Mihawk are a part of his pirate crew (in name only). While every character of One Piece fought hard to progress, Oda made sure that Buggy progressed without much difficulty.

More On Buggy The Clown

Buggy has always lost whenever he faced Monkey D. Luffy. Other than desiring the greatest treasure, he wants to defeat Luffy at least once in his life. The anime fandom calls him Buggy D. Clown. It is a way to show their appreciation of Buggy for achieving so much in life just by losing and getting beaten. The ‘D’ holds a significant meaning in the One Piece world.
