Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has introduced many new weapons and gear for players. From swords that let you move through hordes of enemies while attacking to becoming a martial arts expert, there’s much to explore here.

On that note, the Carian Sorcery Sword has been a wonderful addition for those looking for a gameplay that balances melee combat and sorcery. Unfortunately, a recent patch has changed many of its characteristics and may not appeal to everyone anymore.

Good for Magic, Bad for Melee

The sword’s scaling has improved from a C to an S for Intelligence. Meanwhile, the base damage (physical and magic) has been decreased from 178 to 131 when fully upgraded. This means that the weapon can no longer be your go-to choice when relying on it for melee attacks, so that’s something to keep in mind.

While acquiring the weapon is quite straightforward, players may now have to think twice about investing in this one. If you’re not someone who actively uses magic and needs a reliable sword for close-combat settings, you may want to consider a better option.

This is perhaps one of the biggest changes in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree’s latest patch. While the differences may look big for the Carian Sorcery Sword now, it doesn’t mean you have to avoid it at all costs.

If you’re a player who thrives on spells while keeping a weapon with low physical damage as a backup option, this one might still be worth your time.

Elden Ring Is Now a Playground for Every Playstyle

Thanks to Shadow of the Erdtree’s introduction of the latest gameplay changes, there are now eight new weapon types accessible to players. This adds to the Elden Ring‘s mighty collection of usable weapons and gear. Moreover, it increases the chances players might want to try new builds.

Keeping aside the annoyance that comes with wanting to seek out upgrade materials to ensure scaling a weapon to its best potential, different tools in battle can give players an idea of what works best for them.

For instance, you might be someone who wants a balance between heavy and light swords without compromising on damage output. In that case, Shadow of the Erdtree’s Milady would be perfect for you.

On the contrary, if you’re someone who focuses on faster attacks and reflects the movements of a shadow, the agile Backhand Blades are a great choice. Combine this with armor that protects you (and makes you look cool), you have the ideal Tarnished experience going against some of the meanest bosses in the game.
