The From Software journey to gaming supremacy began in 2009 with the launch of the popular cult hit Demon’s Souls; after that, everything changed for the Japanese studio. With Hidetaka Miyazaki as head of this project, games like Bloodborne, the Dark Souls saga, and the most-sold game in the studio, Elden Ring.
Every game became more popular than the previous one, reaching the incredible milestone of selling more than 20 million copies of one title, Elden Ring. In a recent interview, Miyazaki talked about his favorite boss in all of these games.
Controversial as ever, Hidetaka Miyazaki’s favorite boss is really an original one that has all the fans from Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring
Hidetaka Miyazaki has become a legend in the video games industry, alongside names like Hideo Kojima. The Japanese director has made unbelievable games like Demon’s Souls, the Dark Souls Saga, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and his most recent hit, Elden Ring. In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Miyazaki talked about the library of his games, especially Bloodborne. But he also answered some very interesting questions about his favorite things in these titles, like, What is his favorite final boss in all the games where he worked?
In the interview, he talked about how he came up with some ideas for Bloodborne, including the setting and the visual style. But when he was asked about his favorite final boss in all of his games, he replied:
“Let me weed it down to one: the Old Monk. This boss utilised a unique (and rather experimental) multiplayer system. I remember facing a lot of opposition to realise the idea.”
This particular boss was a very original idea when Demon’s Souls launched back in 2009, exclusively for PS3.
Miyazaki is very grateful for all the love he has received from the fans about his games
This Demon’s Souls boss is one of the most original ideas ever for a final confrontation. The Old Monk was secretly another player controlling this character, so at the end, the player will have to face another player as the final part of Demon’s Souls, and then the journey is completed.
Miyazaki discusses this, stating that the game’s team initially rejected the idea, and he had to advocate for its inclusion in the final version of the title.
From Software did not confirm any other game after the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC from Elden Ring. From Software will create the largest DLC content ever with this expansion. Fans are really looking forward to this. Shadow of the Erdtree will be available on June 21.
What are your thoughts about the Old Monk being the favorite boss of Hidetaka Miyazaki?
