Dark Souls brings a new breed of gamers who want a challenge and have no space for frustration. From Software, the team behind it has culminated this work with the release of Elden Ring. But Dark Souls was the franchise that began a sub-genre known as soulslike.
The popularity of this is so huge that some board games based on the videogames were launched. Thanks to Steam Forged Games, Dark Souls: The Board Game The Sunless City Core Set. This board game will launch on Valentine’s Day.
Not Elden Ring unfortunately, but Dark Souls: The Board Game, an updated version is on the way
The Dark Souls franchise brought any kind of merchandise for the players to have. Steam Forged Games was not lazy and took advantage of the popularity of the games and invented a Dark Souls board game launched back in 2016 as a result of a Kickstarter campaign of £4 million. This first version of the board game launched just after the release of Dark Souls 3. This revisited version came with a lot of new mechanics.
With the possibility of playing from 1 to 3 players, you will be inside The Sunless City in a dungeon crawl experience. A new campaign is introduced with a new encounter system. By becoming the Herald, Pyromancer, or Warrior, you will begin your journey through this ruined city. You’ll battle against the Dragon Slayer Ornstein and the fearsome Executioner Smough. You can pre-order the game at this link.
For you to succeed in this new quest, the key word is teamwork. By cooperating, you’ll vanquish new enemies with patterns of battle never discovered. To advance to the different bonfires, you and your teammates will all have to be alive to not have to reset any battles. Be cautious with your resources, and try to reach the end of the line with your team to conquer the ultimate goal.
