The Elden Ring DLC was announced back on 28th February 2023. Almost a year down the line, fans are clamoring in anticipation for more news and updates regarding the exact release date of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, but as of the moment of writing this article, no confirmed news has not yet emerged from Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware.

Yasuhiro Kitao, a producer of FromSoftware, recently said that the anticipated DLC “still has a little way to go” when asked about it in a recent interview. But he also stated that things are going smoothly, leading to fan speculations running rife. But as usual, not everybody is happy with everything in the Soulsborne world of Elden Ring. So they have a sleuth of demands from the developers regarding the DLC.

Fan Wishlist for Elden Ring DLC Devs

As with any major game franchise, Elden Ring developers have had to deal with their fair share of fan demands. So ahead of the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, a fan had a pretty comprehensive wishlist of features on Reddit.

The complaints ranged from low drop rates of rare and powerful items to the amount of larval tears available. The Elden Ring community had a field day in the comment section dissecting the claims of this poster with people commenting both for and against their statement.

But one issue was raised by fans consistently regarding the matchmaking, which according to a section of the fans, feels mismatched. Considering the number of fans who go to the place where people start, out with end-game weapons and items that one gets after defeating final bosses and stuff, and flex on them, this sounds like a valid concern from a section of players at least.

What To Expect From Shadow of the Erdtree

By the looks of it, Shadow of the Erdtree will be released sometime in 2024. With the anniversary of the initial announcement fast approaching, fan expectations are through the roof as they wait for some news or a definitive release date from FromSoftware.

Players expect Shadow of the Erdtree to expand the DLC lore, be it in the past or the future. Fan theories suggest that the events of the Elden Ring DLC will be set in the past exploring the time of Marika, Miquella, or a rot-free Malenia. Some fans believe that the burnt-down Erdtree shown in the trailer is actually Haligtree which has fallen to such a state due to Miquella’s slumber.

A few fans have speculated that the mysterious figure in the trailer, who was atop Torrent clad in white and blonde hair flowing behind, is actually Melina, the finger maiden who assists your character to level up in Elden Ring.

But all of this is speculation because keeping to their style, Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team have kept the story and lore of Elden Ring obscured for the players to explore and discover. But fans are almost certain that Shadow of the Erdtree is going to expand on the Soulsborne lore considerably.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
