As players uncover the mysteries of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, several kinds of builds have been brought to everyone’s attention, thanks to FromSoftware’s newly introduced weapon types.
Out of these, one playstyle is becoming a highlight of conversations within the sorcery and sword-build community. Meet the Carian Sorcery Sword, a weapon that’s apt for anyone who’s diving into a playstyle where magic meets might.
Where to Find the Carian Sorcery Sword in Shadow of the Erdtree
The biggest (and possibly only) hurdle to finding this sword is the Rellana, Twin Moon Knight boss fight. The ferocious boss won’t let you exit Castle Ensis. So, once you’re done defeating her, you can head out the exit and keep moving straight.
You’ll be greeted by familiar faces and learn more about the game’s lore here. You can always come back and expand your understanding of Shadow of the Erdtree, and some paths may even lead to certain armor sets and new weapon types.
As you move towards the north, the Erdtree becomes more visible to you. However, hold on to that temptation so you can explore this later, as you’ll be taking a U-turn from this spot and heading south once you drop from the cliff to your left.
Next, you’ll notice a watery terrain that seems like it’s leading to a waterfall. Keep moving through this part, following this direction until you can spot the lower areas of Castle Ensis.
You’ll spot a giant-esque enemy roaming this area. It’s best to not engage, as this one’s no easy foe, and a lot of opponents like him brave this new realm. This is one of the many things in Shadow of the Erdtree that make it seem larger and more threatening compared to the base game.
Stick to your right, and make sure you jump off from the cliff with Torrent. You will Torrent’s help making this jump, and he will disappear the moment you land on the structure’s terrace, you’ll find a chest with the Carian Sorcery Sword in it.
This area may seem extremely familiar as this is the same place where you crossed paths with Rellana. However, after defeating her, certain parts of Castle Ensis feel more accessible.
How to Make the Best Use of the Carian Sorcery Sword
Agile, aesthetically pleasing, and full of potential, the Carian Sorcery Sword can be a deadly weapon in the hands of a skilled user. To make an ideal build around it, make sure you have enough FP and Stamina points so you never run out of movesets and magic.
Many weapons in Elden Ring help sorcery users test their mettle against dangerous opponents, but the Carian Sorcery Swords is one of the few weapons that nurtures this philosophy into its moveset.
The sword can be used as a staff that casts spells as well as a thrusting sword. This makes it ideal for Dexterity users, as the sword has a range of quick moves that make it feel light and versatile. To use this weapon without any problems, make sure your character has 10 Strength, 16 Intelligence, and 19 Dexterity points.
As for the armor set, use the Carian Knight’s Shield along with the Beast Champion Set. Not only will you look menacing in this, but the overall armor will protect you against most kinds of damage types.
Finally, equipping the Radagon Icon talisman will help you speed up the rate at which your character can cast spells. Once you have all of these equipped, it’s just a matter of finding a synergy that lets you balance your physical (melee) and magic attacks.
Earlier in the game, there are a lot of different places you can try these movesets around. An area like Gravesight Plain can be the best place to try new spells and attacks. Enemies here aren’t the biggest threat as you and Torrent can quickly move away if things get tricky.
