Given how complex the quest line already is, something like this gives players the much-needed closure for this character’s impact on the game’s narrative. It also gives players the context of Ranni’s motives.
Unfortunately, her character arc doesn’t truly get much recognition in Shadow of the Erdtree, and this also holds true for multiple characters (such as Melina) who may have been ignored by FromSoftware for unknown reasons.
Players continue to discuss alternate endings and voice lines in Ranni’s quest that highlight important parts of her personality and how she addressed the Tarnished.
Ranni’s Significance in Elden Ring
Shortly after the launch of Elden Ring, Ranni the Witch quickly became a cultural icon for the FromSoftware community due to her mysterious nature and a convoluted quest line that gives context to her character.
The daughter of Rennala and Radagon initially assists the Tarnished as they are introduced to The Lands Between. Without spoiling much, her story involves a lot of sorcery, a will to rise above all that exists, and a hidden motive that may change the fate of Elden Ring’s universe.
Over the years, the character has garnered a lot of affection, and fans have portrayed their love for the same.
