FromSoftware has been announcing bits and pieces about the upcoming Elden Ring DLC but when it came to the release date, they could not provide a definitive answer. However, Yasuhiro Kitao, one of the producers said “It’ll be a little while yet, but progress is going well“.

With almost a year of wait behind them and the second anniversary of the game fast approaching, it seems Elden Ring fans have no good news on the DLC font yet.

Squashed Rumors of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Release

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Back on February 28, 2023, FromSoftware released an update on their official X profile about the upcoming DLC.

A year on, this announcement feels like ages ago.

But ever since, there has been no definitive news regarding the release of the update. But, that wasn’t enough to dissuade the fans from speculating whether the vaunted Elden Ring DLC would be ready in time for the PlayStation Partner Awards 2023.

But, those rumors were proved to be unfounded as Elden Ring grabbed a Partner Award at the ceremony and Yasuhiro Kitao also poured water on the probability of the DLC being released at the annual industry bash that happened a week later.

But, he did use the B-word (yes, we mean Bloodborne) while comparing what the DLC would be like and promised fans new characters and battles to explore.

Lack of Release Date of Shadow of the Erdtree Led To Annoyed Fans Coming up With Memes

As there has been no confirmed release date yet, fans have taken it upon themselves to figure out what has happened, or in some cases, why there is no Shadow of the Erdtree release date yet.

This humorous tweet says that Miyazaki dropped his beer on the laptop that contained all the DLC data so the DLC has been cancelled. While this is clearly a joke, the annoyance behind the humor is there for all fans to see.

While the tweet above was a humorous take on the situation, fan anticipation is slowly turning to annoyance.

However, Yasuhiro Kitao has promised fans while talking to some gaming news outlets that everybody at FromSoftware is dedicated to bringing about a worthy DLC for the fans. But this continued lack of news regarding a release date has begun to take its toll on fans.

With the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree meant to extend the game life of Elden Ring it is understandable that players want the DLC to come soon. But, good things come to those who wait, and Elden Ring fans are probably muttering this to themselves under their breaths.

Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware have delivered masterpieces time and again before in the form of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, etc. So, it is no wonder that in spite of having little to no good news on the DLC release front, fans are ready to wait it out, albeit with annoyance.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
