With the upcoming new DLC for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree just a few months away, fans are really speculating about how the new boss will be. This content will be massive, and thanks to the trailer, players can see how one of the main bosses, Messmer, The Impaler, looks.
Back on Reddit, in a discussion about how the second phase of this boss will be, many users said that it will be some kind of giant dragon. Remember Malenia? They said that this time it would be bigger and even scarier than any other bosses that came before.
This DLC Could Introduce Some Menacing New Bosses
Following the release of the first official gameplay trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree, fans’ inquiries about this content skyrocketed. The trailer showcased a multitude of new bosses, none of which had previously appeared in the game. This also made room for speculations about the game’s lore, stating that Miquella will be part of the expansion as well as that the new boss, Messmer the Impaler, has something to do with it.
FromSoftware had already confirmed that this will be the major DLC that the studio has ever created. This content will feature a whole new map, as well as new weapons, armor, and powers. The bosses in the trailer look really menacing, and fans are eager to see the final result once the DLC finally comes. Fans are really speculating about the big new boss, Messmer the Impaler, and its fights and phases.

Many users reply, saying things like, “I’m certain that phase two will be him becoming a dragon with three heads.” The dragon theory is really strong among the fandom; this will probably become a reality.
The dragon theory makes some sense; users are saying that the eyes of Messmer, who look like reptiles, could end up becoming this possible dragon; another user said:
To be honest, I can see it. The hype is real, and Dragons seem to be a big theme with the DLC, what with the Dragon Communion eyes on Messmer.
Fans will be happy regardless; this boss could completely change the lore of the game.
The DLC will be available on June 20 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. Following the release of this content, FromSoftware’s next project remains unannounced. Bandai Namco, the games distribution company, has not said anything; fans can probably expect some new details this year.
