Beyond all the lore and theories that surround Elden Ring, there are a lot of stories and artwork that present themselves as a product of inspiration from The Lands Between. It’s not unusual to see a work of fan art and storytelling that finds its home in FromSoftware’s harsh universe.
However, every once in a while, there’s a piece of fiction that shakes up the source material in some way without messing with it. Yet, it uses this narrative to create newer stories of friendship and love. Such is the case with an upcoming novel that is based on the story of two co-workers who connect with each other.
The Tale of Two Individuals Who Share Their Love for Elden Ring
If there was a romanticized story of two die-hard fans of Elden Ring, this would probably be it. The novel is titled See You At That Grace After Work and tells the story of two co-workers who happen to share their admiration for the game. Well, how does it even begin?
One of the employees of a Japanese company happens to be taking a break from work and sneakily dives into one of the many Elden Ring forums online. If you’re a fan of the game, you’ll probably relate to this. In these moments of fandom, a fellow co-worker spots them and strikes up a conversation.
As circumstances added to the promise of friendship here, one of the employees used to enjoy Elden Ring by themselves. Well, not anymore. The rest of this tale unfolds in the novel that’s yet to be published. The book is written by Keiichi Hikami, an author who has worked on several Monster Hunter novels too.
The Novel Is a Perfect Spin-off for Everyone Waiting for Shadow of the Erdtree
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will arrive on June 21, and there’s a little while before we truly take a glimpse into the Land of Shadow and all the secrets it houses. However, the upcoming novel seems like a perfect read for anyone who is a fan of heartfelt stories about two people connecting with one another, with the backdrop of FromSoftware’s fantastic creations.
As tradition goes, FromSoftware games hold a reputation for having a community that thrives on being there for each other. There are endless players who are eager to help newer players, and even those who take their time out to dive deeper into the intentionally unclear lore pieces.
Elden Ring is no different. And if there’s a bigger chance of producing a work of fiction that reflects this community’s deeply felt empathy, Keiichi Hikami’s work will do justice to it. The book arrives on March 24.
