It remains quite evident just how extensive Elden Ring’s storyline is, sometimes even overwhelming players. With so many bosses to defeat and so many dialogues to stumble upon, the player often finds themselves lost in time whenever they turn on the game.
However, as luck would have it, it was revealed that FromSoftware had to take a lot of content out of the final game before it was released. This resulted in a few quest lines and NPCs that did not make it to the main game, but fans would have loved them. One such NPC and its quest line, which stands out, is Monk Jigo.

As revealed by a known data miner, Lance Macdonald, Elden Ring in its initial stage had an NPC Monk Jigo as mentioned before. Completing his quest line gave the players the ability to collect dreams of characters found sleeping in The Lands Between, unlocking bonus dialogues.
Removed Elden Ring Quest Line Gave Players The Ability To Collect Dreams
The aforementioned data miner disclosed through a video on YouTube how the player would have been able to find an NPC at Stormhill Shack, or Scavenger’s Shack, which was its name before. Who we are talking about is not Roderika, but Monk Jigo, who would give you the quest to gather resources required for making an item called Dreambrew.
The player, after obtaining the dreambrew, could then share it with other characters and NPCs in The Lands Between, which would result in them falling asleep and unlocking bonus dialogues. The video showcased Macdonald giving this particular item to Merchant Kalé, which revealed a secret dialogue of him having a nightmare regarding frenzied flame.

The data miner further revealed how the game in its initial stages would have sleeping NPCs all around the map, which the players could have used to then collect dreams and unlock bonus dialogues as mentioned.
What Else Was Removed From Elden Ring?
It is not only Monk Jigo’s quest line that was unfortunate enough to not make the final cut, instead, several other pieces of content and quest lines were not deemed fit for the game upon release.
One such removed piece of the quest line is that of Merchant Kalé, who sets out on a journey to find out the truth behind the disappearance of The Grand Caravan, which stands for the group of merchants of The Lands Between. He eventually finds his companions were punished by the Golden Order for worshiping the three fingers.

While it remains unlikely, many fans hope to see the return of the removed content at least to some extent in the upcoming extension for Elden Ring. It remains speculated that the players will get to experience the journey of Miquella in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC coming soon.
Elden Ring is available for purchase on Steam.
