The Road to the Erdtree manga was first released in May 2023 by author and artist Nikiichi Tobita and is the first of two manga based on Elden Ring‘s world. The adventure follows a Tarnished named Aseo, who is aided by Melina on his quest to reach the Erdtree. However, where the game is more somber, Tobita’s manga is meant to be a comedic experience.

The manga currently has five volumes, with Aseo having reached the arena of Radahn. The comedic tone of the story is a fresh departure from the usual somber setting of FromSoftware’s worlds, but fans of the series will now have to wait longer.

Tobita has stated he will be going on a hiatus when Shadow of the Erdtree releases. Now, it’s possible that the reason for the hiatus is to experience the expansion and better work in references and story beats into the manga’s storyline. But the more relatable answer is that the mangaka wants to be able to play for hours without worrying about a pending task.

Shadow of the Erdtree Receives Stellar Reviews from Critics

Everyone who has played any amount of the DLC has come away with a glowing review. All reviews, including our own, have highly praised the expansion for offering not only a great story but also substantial side content that makes the Shadow of the Erdtree feel like a complete game unto itself! It also justifies the expansion file size being larger than Sekiro.

With over 90 new weapons, 10 new bosses, and a map that could be even larger than Limgrave, the expansion is bringing a ton of new content to the base game that fans will love exploring. The new weapons and spells will be of specific importance, as they can be used outside of DLC areas as well.

However, some mechanics, such as the Scadutree Blessing, will only be usable within the DLC. This shouldn’t be an issue, though, as being adequately leveled for the expansion would mean the player is more than capable of handling threats in the Lands Between without needing attack buffs.
