Elizabeth Olsen is one of the most talented and skilled actresses to ever step foot on the set of a Marvel film. Having graduated from New York University, she has studied for her profession in a way that isn’t seen very often and this is something that is reflected in her performances, regardless of if she is flying in the air or not. She has played the role of Wanda Maximoff for more than half a decade, making her one of the most psychologically complex characters to come out of the entire comic book franchise.
Her most recent, and possibly last appearance in the franchise was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a film where she featured as the main villain and ultimately died a tragic death, one that mirrored the life she lived. Recent news has revealed what Wanda, drunk on the power of the Darkhold, could have looked like had things been the way director Sam Rami wanted. These new stills are truly terrifying and justify the horror in the movie’s genre, with many referring to her as Demon Scarlet Witch.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Wore A Sinister Face
Elizabeth Olsen‘s Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was far from her usual self, having gotten her hands on the Darkhold and gotten corrupted by its darkness. This turned her into a completely insane, grief-stricken, chaotic version of herself, doing some truly awful things. On top of this, her character was also the villain of this film, being put directly against Doctor Strange, who could barely hold his own in front of her, considering the intensity of her emotions. With this, it is only natural that this would be reflected in the film itself.
There were many indicators of her mental decline as well as ones of her falling from the side of the good to the side of the wicked. The biggest being her physical appearance, from her untamed hair, her terrifyingly unsettling eyes, and her personality in general, all of which can be credited to Elizabeth Olsen’s exceptional talent. On the other hand, the only clear indicators of her slipping to the dark side were her dark, dead-looking fingers and the similar looks on her suit. It would seem that originally, Marvel was going to be a lot less subtle with this, instead choosing to make her look like a demon personified.
This Was A Lot More Hellish
Recently, ComicBookCast2 revealed inside images of what Elizabeth Olsen’s character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could have looked like if everything had gone according to Sam Rami and his vision for this film. The images of the original concept of this character are truly something out of nightmares as we see a dark, almost decaying version of this beloved character that many wanted to protect.
Perfectly fitting the role of a villain from a Sam Rami film, it is interesting to imagine what this film would have looked like if these changes had not been made in the extensive re-shoots that took place towards the end of the production of this movie. While many fans would have loved this take on this character, it may have been a good thing that her character did not look like this considering this was Marvel’s first take on a horror film, that too on one that was very important for the franchise’s future. It is not too far-fetched to guess that many fans would have opted out from watching this movie had it been this terrifying.
