When it comes to Elon Musk’s intriguing and unpredictable presence on Twitter, one is simply blindsided by what the business magnate has to say. This time around, he had something to express regarding Amazon’s latest — and might we add, quite expensive — endeavor; the latest addition to The Lord of the Rings franchise, The Rings of Power.
The CEO of Tesla Motors, on his official Twitter account, stated the complaint he harbors for the fantasy epic-drama series, expressing a distinct dislike for the male characters. Elon Musk has struck a perfect balance between enunciating his criticism of the show, whilst seemingly feeding into the competition he shares with Amazon’s founder, Jeff Bezos.
The Rings Of Power Has Attracted Elon Musk’s Attention
When it comes to the Amazon series, which continues to build upon the imaginative brilliance of the universe envisioned and penned by J. R. R. Tolkien, the premise developed by J. D. Payne has attracted a mixed reception.
While many critics are hailing it as one of the best modern-age media pieces; evident with how the series has received a RottenTomatoes score of 84%, others — mostly long-time audiences — believe that The Rings of Power is failing to live up to Tolkien’s legacy. Whether you loved it or disliked it, the first two episodes of the Prime Video show have created history recently.
The prequel series has set an unprecedented debut record for the streaming service, amassing a whopping 24 million global viewers in the first 24 hours. Hence, Amazon’s most ambitious attempt as of yet has been garnering astounding attention, irrespective of the viewers’ subjective opinions.
One such viewer happens to be none other than Elon Musk himself.
Elon Musk’s Criticism Towards The Series
Elon Musk is not one to shy away from voicing his thoughts on the Internet. Whether it’s incessantly trolling, posting memes, or enunciating his various complaints, the billionaire will do it all. Taking to Twitter, Musk had the following to say about the Amazon Studios-produced series:
Almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both. Only Galadriel is brave, smart and nice.

While the first statement comes off as rather vague, it’s alluding to how the creator of the epic, high fantasy novel, J. R. R. Tolkien, would be taken aback by the Amazon series. Secondly, Elon Musk mentioned how he barely likes any of the male characters the two episodes of the series have introduced us to. The point of redemption for the Tesla CEO seems to be the presence of Galadriel, a character all fans were acquainted with in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. In the series, she is played by actress Morfydd Clark.
While some individuals in the replies to Musk’s tweet disagreed with him, most were in support of his critical statement.
Amazon’s costly and aspirational endeavor continues to be the talk of the town for many, not just Elon Musk. Certain users across major social media platforms have expressed how the first two episodes of the much-anticipated premise felt slow, stale, and lackluster; quite a contrast to the critics’ analytical reviews.
It is yet to be seen how The Rings of Power continues to commercially dominate Amazon’s streaming service in the upcoming weeks. One can only hope that along the journey, the wary, skeptical long-time fans turn in favor of the show.
