Embark’s free-to-play THE FINALS seems to be carrying first-person shooters on its back since it feels like there has been a drastic shift in the video game industry as not many multiplayer titles in the genre have been able to take the spotlight in recent times. Just three months after it was officially launched on December 7, Season 1 is coming to an end tomorrow, March 12, as far as the in-game battle pass countdown is concerned.

Fortunately, players will not have to wait too long after the first chapter ends, as the developer and publisher is releasing Season 2 later this week, and it looks marvelous.

The premise of the next THE FINALS season revolves around the television virtual combat game show getting hacked, which is causing weird things to happen inside the arena. This has been carried out by a rogue hacking collective called CNS, compromising the show as the showrunners try to find a solution by deciphering a cryptic message from the hackers, but, of course, even that is not enough for the action to come to a halt.

The second season will bring plenty of fresh content for players, including new weapons for each class, the introduction of a hacked map called SYS$HORIZON, and a lot more.

Along with that, THE FINALS Season 2 will also include a new 5v5 game mode called Power Shift, as well as a skill-based League System and weekly career progression rewards to always keep things interesting. The update will also introduce private matches, but they will still be in their beta version, so players should expect some features to not be available just yet.

There is also a new Hacker Playstyle for those gamers who have been looking forward to personalizing the arena to their advantage.

Just two days after Season 1 reaches the end of its in-game countdown, THE FINALS will enter its second season on Thursday, March 14. Another intriguing aspect of the upcoming chapter is that players can actually use the new Hacker Playstyle to join forces with the hacking group CNS, which lets them use cooler gadgets and a fresh specialization that can be combined with their current toolsets.

From removing walls to defying gravity itself, there are a variety of abilities that this new play style is set to feature.

The four major additions coming to Season 2 are a specialization called The Dematerializer, a deployable cube called The Anti-Gravity Cube, a pair of literal portals called The Gateway, and a gadget called The Data Reshaper. Each one has its own unique power, while Embark Studios is also giving every build type new weapons as well. There is apparently more to come.
