There is one big corporation full of investors that has made a lot of acquisitions in the last couple of years: Embracer Group, which has bought studios like THQ Nordic, Crystal Dynamics, Gearbox, and many more. Unfortunately, all the games from these studios were not successful at all, so Embracer Group decided to start making some changes, which meant a lot of layoffs and even the complete closure of studios.
This was not well received by players, making this company one of the most hated in the industry, but the founder of one of its former studios, Saber Interactive, asked not to attack Embracer that much.

Embracer Group has hundreds of studios and subsidiaries in gaming, including names like THQ Nordic, Darkhorse Media, Crystal Dynamics, Coffee Stain, and many more. THQ Nordic revived several popular IPs as remakes or remastered versions of the game, initiating this investment a couple of years ago. After many failures, EG decided to start laying off employees and selling studios, making players furious.
Saber Interactive was one of the former Embracer Group companies. Different studios are in talks to exit and acquire this subsidiary. But the founder of Saber Interactive, Matthew Karch, has asked users and players not to attack Embracer Group. Karch talked in an interview about how people are being unfair to Lars Wingefors, CEO of EG. For obvious reasons that have to do with layoffs and bad management, players did not agree with Karch.
When people saw this article featuring Karch’s interview, they immediately began to criticize and discuss the company’s mismanagement of video game studios.

Other users on X responded to this, emphasizing that it’s a case of one individual with privileges defending another with similar advantages. This situation is particularly unfair to all the individuals who lost their jobs as a result of EG’s restructuring of numerous studios.

A few years ago, this company began selling some of its studios. Gearbox Entertainment was recently acquired by 2K Games, and Volition has been closed forever. Rumors suggest that Beacon Interactive will purchase a significant portion of Saber Interactive, while some Saber studios remain part of EG. This company will keep amortizing expenses to survive all the failed games.
The next most-anticipated game from Saber Interactive will be Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. We will release this game by the end of this year. Saber is currently working on several projects, which Beacon Interactive will release in the coming months. Players really want that Embracer Group just sells all the studios that it owns to new and more experienced companies. The potential acquisitions could significantly impact the number of developers involved.
