Emma Watson has been absent from the entertainment world for a long time. Our beloved Hermione Granger announced her acting hiatus after being spotted in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women for the last time. The fans were shocked as the Beauty and the Beast star left acting even as one of the few successful stars who could make it big post-Harry Potter.
However, if Emma Watson’s records and accomplishments are seen, it can’t be denied that she had an impressive career. Besides acting, she has also been a part of several other businesses and has been very successful at quite a young age.
Recently a YouTube video explained Watson’s feat and how she left acting at one of the highest points of her career. The fans pointed out how the star has already achieved a lot to retire comfortably- “Emma Watson has more than enough money to retire comfortably”.
Was Emma Watson not happy acting?
Emma Watson has been one of the talents who saw some of the greatest successes at a very young age. After beating out 350 other girls and having a prolonged journey of 8 auditions, she landed the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise. The Wizarding World turned her into one of the major faces of Pop Culture in one of the most renowned franchises.
Recently, a YouTube video (via @Charlesperalo) talked about the actress her feats, the fans were impressed by her accomplishments. Presently, Emma Watson has a Net Worth of $85 million and has been one of the rarest actors from the Wizarding World who could retain their success rate after the franchise. The actress has been part of huge hits like Beauty and the Beast and Little Women.
Despite attempting to leave the franchise midway several times, the actress continued playing Hermione Granger for all the 8 Harry Potter movies. However, soon after 2019, she took a long break from acting after feeling “caged“. In an interview with the Financial Times, the Meg March actress opened up that she wasn’t very happy acting.
“I wasn’t very happy, if I’m being honest. I think I felt a bit caged. The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over.”
Emma Watson didn’t feel comfortable speaking about a craft where she didn’t have much say in the first place. It was getting hard for her to go out and sell something where she wasn’t involved much. However, if her career is observed, it’s no lie to admit that the 33-year-old has been subjected to a significant amount of success in a very short time.
Emma Watson’s career outside of acting
Following Little Women, the British actress was also spotted in Max’s 2022 Harry Potter 20th Anniversary documentary. Although the fans were keen to spot her on the big screens once again, Emma Watson made it clear that she wanted to focus on other businesses. She hasn’t shut the return door to acting but not until she gets her hands on a convincing project.
Harry Potter producer David Heyman also stated earlier how the actress was more interested in schooling every time there was a negotiation for her contracts. She was a serious scholar and it was also a reason why the star took a long break from acting. Leaving acting behind, the actress went on to pursue a Masters degree in Creative Writing from Oxford University.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower actress turned into a role model for many young talents after being helmed as a UN Women Goodwill ambassador in 2014. In 2020, Emma Watson was given the position of the youngest member of the board of directors in Kering, the French multinational corporation that owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.
Emma Watson has found herself among many Top 10 lists over the years and recently in 2022, she also became an ambassador for Prada Beauty’s fragrance Paradoxe.
