Keanu Reeves’ John Wick Body Double Was Emotionally Destroyed After This Stunt

For the second installment of the John Wick saga, the scene where Keanu Reeves‘ character reunites with his Mustang was very special, and Jeremy Fry knew he had to go big to make it unforgettable. But in an effort to make the moment a memorable one, Fry made it increasingly challenging for himself to actually make it a reality in front of the camera. While speaking with Metro UK, he stated,

“The second one in John Wick 2 when he finds his Mustang. That whole sequence we tried to make it look like it was happening in a larger area than it was,”

He then further explained that there was a spacing issue, although it might look like the area where the stunt was performed was big enough, in reality, the crew had to work with a lot less. He explained,

“The floor of this warehouse was about three feet lower than the parking lot outside. So they had this ramp that was already part of the building.–The door was 20 feet wide, and the car was about 18 feet long,–So if I was coming out if I happen to be sideways, I only had a foot on either end at speed to get the car out the door. So it was tricky.’’

The scene which was essentially inspired by a sequence in Big Hero 6, emotionally destroyed Fry on the first try as he hit the front bumper. Although he got it right the fifth time, it was still a pretty harrowing experience. As he stated,

‘”Physically I was fine. Emotionally I was destroyed.–They played it back and it was so cool
For whatever reason on that shot, everything had kind of come together,–It’s one of the coolest shots that I’ve been a part of.”

While he ultimately brushed it off as a little hiccup, this brutal encounter highlighted the constant level of danger that stunt performers have to be under in their daily routines.

The stunt personality further revealed, that the two bonded over their shared love for motorcycles and then recalled a very interesting anecdote that perfectly showcases how Reeves is as a person. As he stated,

“He goes, “Hey, how would you like to go to Laguna Seca?” and when Keanu Reeves asks you if you wanna go pretty much anywhere, you say yes.–Turns out he had rented Laguna Seca, which is a very well-known popular racetrack in California, and he rented it for two days, private rental, there were about eighty of his friends and people he knew–There were celebrities there, people from different industries there, a huge cross-section of people. He put us up in local hotels, he catered breakfast, lunch, dinners.–That was a very special time for me for many different reasons.’”

All in all, it is pretty clear that the actor is an absolute delight to work with and Fry’s experience with the actor will be yet another delightful addition to the long list of reasons to love Keanu Reeves.
