Recently, it was reported that Marvel Studios is allegedly scrapping three sequels and one of them is Eternals 2, along with Ant-Man, and Captain Marvel sequels. The reason was cited that Disney does not want to take risks and focus on sure shot hits.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios boss, and Disney CEO Bob Iger think pole apart when it comes to Eternals 2. While Feige wanted to make an Eternals sequel, Iger seemed to be certain that it would be a guaranteed flop. So they won’t move forward.
Amidst these, an industry scooper gives fans some hope that Eternals 2 is not a completely scrapped plan.
Reports Suggested Marvel Has Canceled Eternals 2
A new report suggested that Marvel Studios wants to take fewer risks and go with likely hits, which likely have no sequels to Eternals, Captain Marvel, & Ant-Man. All these three movies had struggled at the box office. And that made Marvel Studios to rethink its strategy.
Fans were hoping for more exploration of the Eternals‘ universe, but looks like Marvel has other plans. Eternals, however, instantly became the lowest-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe offering and the franchise’s first to be rated “rotten” on Rotten Tomatoes. Considering that angle, now Marvel wants to play safe.
Meanwhile, all these reports of cancelation now come with a new twist as industry insider @MyTimeToShineH. It is being said that Eternals 2 is not canceled. It transformed. And fans are quite happy to hear it as some say that they loved the first film and its story needs to be continued in the MCU.
Fans See A Ray of Hope
Some fans feel like the Eternals didn’t get their fair shake. And they were unhappy due to the unresolved cliffhanger in the movie. Fans were left with more questions than answers in the climax of Eternals, with a hope that those loose ends will be resolved in the sequel.
And, despite the initial reports of cancellation, the latest buzz about the new approach to bringing the movie gives some hope and fans were quick enough to express their eagerness.
Personally I loved Eternals, idk why people hated it. Even I like it more than Shang-chi.

Marvel Team-Up: The Eternals & She-Hulk

Probably teaming them up with another hero or heroes, make it a group film rather than just their team specifically — like The Marvels or Captain America 3 did.

The main drawback of the first movie was the lack of known faces. Thus mainstream moviegoers could not connect with the characters. From one side, it’s understandable that Marvel at this moment does not want to take risks as they have some other projects like Deadpool & Wolverine, Kraven the Hunter, and Venom 3, which are certainly going to be box office hits.
This year’s only theatrical Marvel Studios release is Deadpool & Wolverine, which will arrive in cinemas on July 26, 2024.
