Whenever people hear Shonen anime or manga, they think of powerful protagonists like Son Goku, Monkey D. Luffy, or Naruto, with superhuman powers and how they saved the world. But Haikyuu changed that notion. In the 1990s, Slam Dunk became one of the very first sports manga to reach massive popularity among its peers. Haikyuu carried and refined the love for sports manga since mid-2010.

With no power-ups or special moves, except for Nishinoya’s ‘Rolling Thunder,’ Haruichi Furudate’s magnum opus boasts massive popularity and has sold over 60 million copies. In 2024, the anime is returning after almost three years. Apart from that, the mangaka has also announced a special chapter, which is to be released in 2024 in honor of Haikyuu’s return.

Haikyuu!! Is Returning With a Special Chapter

Haruichi Furudate’s Haikyuu manga ended on July 20, 2020. It was one of the best-written manga ever, and its end lived up to the expectations of the fans. The anime finished airing its season four in December 2020, and since then, there has been no news about it. Later, it was announced that the anime would return, and instead of having seasons, it would conclude the story through a couple of movies.

Fans were excited to see their favorite anime returning with one of the greatest battles in Shonen history. But that is not all. On January 25, 2024, Haruichi Furudate announced that a special manga chapter will be released in 2024.

More on Haikyuu!!

Shouya Hinata vowed to defeat Tobio Kageyama after he lost in their first match against each other. But people are expecting to be something to commemorate the movie. The match between Karasuno and Nekoma is one of the most intense matches ever. Haikyuu proved that even a volleyball match can increase heart rates and be as good as other anime with superpowers. The Battle of the Garbage Dump is the first movie.
