Whenever people hear Shonen anime or manga, they think of powerful protagonists like Son Goku, Monkey D. Luffy, or Naruto, with superhuman powers and how they saved the world. But Haikyuu changed that notion. In the 1990s, Slam Dunk became one of the very first sports manga to reach massive popularity among its peers. Haikyuu carried and refined the love for sports manga since mid-2010.

In 2024, the anime is returning after almost three years. Apart from that, the mangaka has also announced a special chapter, which is to be released in 2024 in honor of Haikyuu’s return.
