The Naruto franchise has given the fans several memorable moments. These moments have inspired the fans, left a tear at the corner of their eyes, and experienced absolute rage, laughter, and sadness. The combination of all these emotions makes Naruto such a great anime. Among all the characters, Obito Uchiha remains one of the few characters who made us experience every one of those emotions.
He was introduced to the fans as one of the most despised villains of the franchise but laid down his life as one of the greatest heroes. While most people think that it was well-deserved, there is a little portion of our heart that often asks whether it was the right decision to kill him. The doubt about Obita being treated a little more harshly than he deserved will always be a hot topic for debate.
Obito Uchiha’s Journey
Obita Uchiha was Kakashi Hatake’s teammate. He was a sweet guy who aimed to achieve great things. He shared the same dream as Naruto: to be the Hokage one day. Obito Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, and Rin Nohara were led by Minato Namikaze. Even though Obita had such high hopes, luck was never on his side. During a mission, while he tried to save Kakashi, a huge boulder fell on him.
It crushed his right side. He and Kakashi always had a fallout, so thinking it was his end, he gave Kakashi his left Sharingan as a parting gift. But Zetsu saved him and brought him to Madara. With time, he recovered. One day, he heard that his love interest, Rin, was taken by another village as a hostage. Madara Uchiha manipulated him, and Obito immediately went to save her.
Upon reaching the place, he saw Rin choose to die at the hands of Kakashi. This sent him into a fit of rage and caused him to kill all the enemy ninjas around him. This experience made him switch to the evil ways. After that, he took up a mask to disguise himself and took the name of Tobi. He then used the Nine-Tails to attack Konohagakure and kill the Fourth Hokage and his wife, along with numerous shinobi.
Throughout the series, he killed several people and erased every bit of peace that was left. But with time, he changed his heart by watching Naruto Uzumaki. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he fought the Allied forces, but later, after emotional reawakening, he switched sides and fought for the greater good.
Obita’s End Was Too Harsh In Naruto Shippuden
Everything that Obito had done, disguised as Tobi, was unforgettable. Everyone hated him, but his redemption arc was one of the best. After he parted with his evil ways, he saved Naruto from dying by transplanting two Tail-Beast chakras into him. Sacrificed himself to save Kakashi, Naruto and Sasuke from Kaguya Otsutsuki.
Even after dying, he transferred his chakra into Kakashi, helping him gain access to his right Sharingan for a brief moment. It allowed him to bring out the Susano’o, which helped them defeat Kaguya Otsutsuki. Whether Obita’s fate was too hard on him is entirely a personal opinion, but others were forgiven for their heinous deeds in the series.
One of the most significant examples is Orochimaru. Moreover, the Naruto franchise has consistently promoted the idea of forgiveness. So, it is surprising that he received his grace through death. Obito’s death will always remain opinionated, but no one can deny that it remains on the elite list of the best-written characters.
