The trailer for Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender was released recently and was received by fans with acceptance and fanfare. The show is set to debut on Netflix on February 22 and will closely follow the story of the popular Nickelodeon animated show’s first season. Despite the original creators exiting from the show, they still contribute as writers.
Fans lauded the CGI work and perfect casting of the characters after watching the trailer. Apart from setting up the core plot of the show, the trailer also hints at many storylines, characters, and artifacts from the original show in the form of Easter Eggs. Here are some of the Easter Eggs found in the trailer of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The Battle Between The Fire Nation And Air Nomads
The opening of the trailer shows Prince Zuko’s ship traversing the waters and then shifts to the Fire Nation attacking the Air Nomads. This particular scene is not shown in the animated show Avatar: The Last Airbender but the trailer hints at a flashback event centered around the genocide of the Air Nomad tribe. A glimpse of Lord Sozin, the Fire Nation ruler who started the One Hundred Years War is also seen in the trailer.
The Fire Nation performed this genocide while searching for the Avatar Aang, who had run away from the Air Nation and had recused himself to an iceberg, being in suspended animation for a hundred years. The story of Avatar begins after Aang is awoken by Katara and Sokka.
Origins Of Prince Zuko’s Scar
Prince Zuko is the main antagonist of Book 1 in Avatar: The Last Airbender and is the banished son of Lord Ozai, the present ruler of the Fire Nation. He is known for his iconic red scar that covered his eye like a black eye. The scar’s origins date back to his time in the Fire Nation before his banishment where he opposes his father, who hopes to sacrifice soldiers. Lord Ozai banishes him after challenging him to a duel, where Zuko refuses to fight his father.
The trailer shows a similar arena where a fire-bending duel is taking place with overhead shots of what looks like Prince Zuko and Danie Day Kim’s Ozai. There is a change in the depiction, however, as Zuko is seen fighting and deflecting a fire shot from his father while in the animated series, he refuses to fight.
Hei Bei And The Destroyed Forests
Avatar Aang visits the Earth Kingdom after he awakens, only to find it destroyed by the Fire Nation, much like his village with the Air Nomads. However, the Panda spirit of the forest mistakes the villagers of Sennin to be the cause of the destruction and routinely kidnaps villagers. Aang reasons with the spirit and changes Hei Bei into the Panda spirit after gifting an acorn from the destroyed forest. He assures Hei Bei that the forest will grow back. The Panda spirit releases its prisoners from the Spirit world. A blink-and-miss shot of Hei Bei is seen in the trailer of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Avatar Kiyoshi’s Island
The home of Avatar Kiyoshi is an island that is near the Earth Kingdom and is known for its fierce group of all-female warriors called the Kiyoshi Warriors. Aang, Katara, and Sokka visit the village and are treated with respect after learning that Aang is the Avatar. Sokka learns to respect female warriors after previously disregarding them and then also learns the ways of fighting from the warriors. He also grows close to a warrior named Suki.
Suki is shown in the trailer of Avatar: The Last Airbender fighting against a Fire Nation army led by General Zhao. She battles the Fire Nation Army in her Kiyoshi warrior attire, with metallic fans, along with Aang and Team Avatar.
