8. Far Cry 6

The newest title in the Far Cry series seems to be the least impressive game in the series. At first glance, Far Cry 6 had a great appearance and was somewhat inventive and ambitious, but it was quickly abandoned by the fans. According to the review aggregator site Metacritic, this is the lowest-rated game in the series.

During its first week of sales, the PlayStation 4 version of the game managed to become the second best-selling game in Japan, reaching an impressive number of 34,219 physical copies sold. Additionally, the PlayStation 5 version of Far Cry 6 became the third best-selling retail game in Japan in just one week with 16,686 physical sales.

According to the reviews on Metacritic, critics gave the game “mixed or average” reviews, however the Xbox version of the game garnered “generally favorable” reviews.

New Dawn, which debuted as a stand-alone addition for Far Cry 5 and is technically a spin-off and offered players the first post-apocalyptic setting in the Far Cry franchise. The game managed to get “mixed or average” reviews for the PlayStation 4 and PC versions and “generally favorable reviews” for the Xbox One version, according to Metacritic.

Far Cry: New Dawn sold over 26,285 physical units in Japan during its launch week. The game also became the best-selling retail game in the UK in its week of release.

While some players found Far Cry 5 to be extremely glitchy, the game was generally positively received by the fans. However, it did get ranked as the second-worst title in the series by the review aggregator site, Metacritic. Aside from a really interesting twist at the end, many players found Far Cry 5 to be overly linear and difficult to play through.

Even though this game was a spin-off, Far Cry: Primal was one of the most creative games ever created for the Far Cry franchise. The game took the players back to the historic Stone Age and was applauded for its prehistoric backdrop. The developers even created a whole new language and a variety of ethnicities and tribes specifically for this game. Therefore, in the monotonous setting of the games, it was a welcome diversion.

This was the first game in the series that came out after Ubisoft acquired the franchise. Far Cry 2 is built upon the popularity of its predecessor, which was published four years earlier. This game featured one of the most famous antagonists and one of the best casts in the entire Far Cry franchise. The game took players to different Himalayan locations and created some of the most breathtaking scenery in the series. Although it was much of an upgrade upon its predecessor, it was still a great game to play.
