Hugh Hefner, the pioneer of the sex*al revolution in the 1960s, became one of the most significant names in the entertainment industry, as he founded the men’s magazine Playboy. The entrepreneur tapped into the mindsets of many individuals, setting a trend for the urban lifestyle of the modern man. Hefner became a symbol of this modern lifestyle.
Naturally, Hugh Hefner led a hedonist and flamboyant lifestyle. Despite leading such a lifestyle, the publisher decided to settle with Crystal Hefner, though they had a massive age gap of 60 years, as they loved each other. However, the widow has come forward in an interview stating how she never loved Hefner and faced the consequences of her choice.
Hugh Hefner’s Widow Made A Startling Confession After His Death
Hugh Hefner and Crystal Hefner were married for only five years, and though they had a massive age gap of 60 years, they showcased to the world how much they loved each other. Although Hefner was the symbol of the luxury lifestyle, during their marriage, he organized a number of luxury parties in his iconic Playboy Mansion.
The parties were extravagant and luxurious, featuring not only politicians, celebrities, and an array of captivating women, but also the larger-than-life personality, Hugh Hefner, that too in his iconic attire which is a silk rope, and pipe. The parties were a breeding ground for adult indulgence and intimate encounters behind closed doors. However, Crystal Hefner gave a shocking confession about life in The Playboy Mansion and their married life during an interview with People about her memoir, Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself.
In the interview, Crystal Hefner mentioned how she ran away when the s*x icon first proposed her for marriage and acknowledged that she was never “in love” with him and she served as his caregiver in his final years.
“I realized I was dealing with a really big power imbalance. It seemed like a world of success and fantasy, but everyone’s having to sleep with an 80-year-old. There’s a price. Everything has a price.”
Crystal Hefner did realize her mistake, in saying ‘yes’ to Hefner, but more interestingly she shared how The Playboy Mansion is falling and how Hefner used to control everything about the girls.
Crystal Hefner Shares How Hugh Hefner Was Controlling and The Playboy Mansion Is Falling Apart
In the same interview with People, Crystal Hefner shared how Hefner was extremely controlling, and even his girlfriends would come to him each week to collect their allowance. However, he had a strict rule that the money was to be spent on making them look more beautiful and had opinions on “weird, silly, stupid things.”
“Our nail polish couldn’t be anything but some neutral color, no French manicure. Don’t have a belly button ring because that’s trashy. He would tell me ‘Wear the flag.’ That’s the Playboy logo and those shirts were uncomfortable and cheap.”
She added that it felt normal to her, as she believed that it was crucial to look beautiful in his eyes.
“So I’d have to go bleach it and it would burn my scalp and I’d have blisters. But for some reason I thought this was all normal and that’s what it meant to be seen as beautiful in Hef’s eyes.”
But that’s not all as she shares how the iconic Playboy mansion is falling apart, as after Hefner’s demise the place doesn’t get cleaned very well and it looks gross because of too many parties and how the birds were dying of thirst.
“This place doesn’t really get cleaned that well and there’s mold, and it just felt just kind of run down and gross after a while. Too, too many parties. It was worn out. I feel like I was constantly crying for everything and everybody there. All those animals were so depressed and sad-looking. It was all an illusion. I don’t even know if I was happy, to be honest.”
Nevertheless, Crystal Hefner has realized her mistake of being a part of Playboy and in her memoir, her confessions are an evidence that her life has been a living hell for her.
