The Jason Bourne star recalled the time he had dinner with the action star and shared that he was blown away by his passion for the death-defying stunts.

Matt Damon Recalls Meeting Tom Cruise

While talking to Conan O’Brien on his talk show, Matt Damon recalled meeting Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt while the latter two were working on their film Edge of Tomorrow. The discussion about Cruise’s action sequences came to his stunt on the world-famous building Burj Khalifa in the fourth installment of the Mission Impossible film series.

Damon recalled asking Cruise about the same stunt during his dinner with him and Emily Blunt. The Jack Reacher star told him that he had been planning the sequence for fifteen years and finally had the chance to do it in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

Cruise then shared his idea with his “safety guy,” who denied proceeding with it and told him that the sequence was too dangerous for him to do. However, he was not ready to take a no for an answer. Damon then shared Tom Cruise’s solution to this issue. “So, I get another safety guy,” Damon recalled the Top Gun star’s words.

The Interstellar actor shared that he was stunned as he would have refused to do the stunt if it was deemed too dangerous. However, Cruise made sure that he did that stunt. He also talked about getting mesmerized by the Vanilla Sky actor as he felt as if “everything else [disappeared]” while talking to him.

Matt Damon Talks About His Fear of Heights

Matt Damon has starred in the action thriller franchise Bourne. Although he has performed plenty of action scenes and stunts, The Bourne Identity actor was not aware of his fear of heights until he visited Dubai with his wife. During his appearance on Conan, he shared that he did not know he was afraid of heights as he has “jumped off a bridge” for his films.

The Air actor shared that he was fine as it all happened under supervision, and he had cables and harnesses on. However, when he was on the helicopter pad of a building in Dubai with his wife, he realized that he was afraid of heights.

“I was in Dubai in 2004 and went to the top of this building with my wife and on this helicopter pad and walked out and I went full lizard brain.”

The Stillwater star shared that he was frozen and felt like he couldn’t actually move. Damon also shared that he has not done anything that involves heights so far after realizing his dear for heights.
