At the tender age of six, Chan’s parents enrolled him in the China Drama Academy, where he worked tirelessly, faced light meals, and endured harsh punishments.

In a revealing interview, the 69-year-old described a touching incident that left him trembling at the sight of his teacher. He disclosed, 

“One day, I just playing the nuts. I have a nut. I dropped the nuts. Behind the refrigerator. I moved the refrigerator. I catch the nuts. The teacher like this. What are you doing? I say I say no. Nuts It’s about time you eat noodle. I said oh thank you, Ahh thank you.”

The Rush Hour star continued,

“And then bring me to the chair. Put me down. One feet like this, Waww. I was crying like a first time. in the school after one weeks later. I just turned arround. I wanna go away. I don’t know where I’m going. I everytime I see my teacher I am shaking.”

This experience planted a deep fear within him. However, it was within the walls of the academy that Chan acquired invaluable skills in acrobatics, acting, singing, kung fu, and discipline. Chan’s unwavering resilience and undefeatable spirit would become guiding forces on his path to success.
