Ewan McGregor is considered to be one of the biggest talents who played a plethora of roles in his illustrious career and has consistently charmed the audience with his stellar performances. However, the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise remains to be the most iconic of all. However, Ewan McGregor’s time to play Obi-Wan Kenobi was limited after he played the role in the Disney+ Series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The polyvalent actor has rarely disappointed his fans, however, he was not sure that he will return to play the character, as there were no guarantees that the Disney+ series would return for a 2nd season. But recently, Deborah Chow hinted that the actor wants to return to play his iconic role in the TV Series.

Ewan McGregor To Return for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s 2nd Season?

During an exclusive interview with Deadline, Deborah Chow explained how Obi-Wan Kenobi did not talk about the series of events that led to the Jedi Knight’s demise in Star Wars: A New Hope, and telling the story of those events would be a good plot for the new season.

“This was conceived as a limited series; it is closed. There’s 10 more years before New Hope, so never say never.”

While the director pitched an interesting plot idea for a second season of the show, Kathleen Kennedy had said, “that is not an active development,” when asked about the updates for the show’s 2nd season.

However, the President of Lucasfilm added that “there’s always the possibility,” and considering that the spin-off show was well-received by the fans of the franchise, they might announce the second season of the show in the near future.

“But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. That show was so well-received and Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another. Everybody’s all hands on deck with what we’re doing right now, as you can see by what we showed everybody [at the Celebration]. We’ll turn our attention to that again maybe down the road.”

As Kennedy stated, the show was well received by the audience, however, the second season might get delayed due to Lucasfilms’ poor performance at the Box Office. The poor planning has forced the studio to go back to the drawing charts as they rethink their plans for the future, which would also delay the announcement of the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

“It’s true, it was a long journey to get here. It goes back to finishing Episode III, really, and the journey from there. It was interesting that it was it became more and more something that I wanted to do, the longer I got away from actually finishing Episode III.”
