Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man and were together for four years before parting ways in 2015. Although they were not together anymore, the two maintained a good friendship and didn’t shy away from talking about each other during their interviews. However, there were still certain limits to the things they shared.
Before the release of the 2021 Marvel film, rumors started circulating that The Social Network star would have a special appearance in the film. However, being a professional, Garfield denied the rumors. The actor later shared during an interview that he didn’t even tell his ex-girlfriend about his involvement, and she was really upset when she found out the truth.
Emma Stone Called Out Andrew Garfield For Lying
Andrew Garfield managed to keep his special appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, not only from the media but also from his ex-girlfriend, Emma Stone. While talking to the host of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he shared that Stone was curious and asked him if he was in No Way Home.
He said that the La La Land actress was persistent in knowing about it and would ask him constantly, “Shut up. Just tell me.” However, he denied it, saying that he had no idea what she was talking about. And when she finally saw the film, she was furious over him for not telling her about it.
The Breathe shared that Stone called him a “jerk” for lying to her about his appearance. “She was like, ‘You’re a jerk,’” the Mainstream star shared. The actor recently shared in an interview that he “didn’t really think much” about getting the role after his audition and only took it seriously after getting a call for a screen test.
He also shared that he met his Spider-Man co-star during a screen test and felt an immediate connection with her. Garfield said that he always tried to “stay with her, keep pace with her, and not let her get away.” However, they broke things off in 2015 and have been good friends since then.

Andrew Garfield’s absence at the 2015 Oscars, where Emma Stone was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, raised questions among fans, and soon it was revealed that the two were on a break. However, shortly after, it was revealed that the couple officially called it quits.
The former couple never made any official statement regarding their separation, as they were mostly private with their relationship and may have wished the same for their break up, as well. However, the two remained good friends over the years and have complemented each other on several occasions.
Garfield was seen emersed in his ex’s acceptance speech when she won the Oscar for her performance in La La Land and later shared that he was “so pleased” for Stone. The actress also shared the same about her ex, saying that she still loves him very much.
As for their romantic life, the Spider-Man actor has been linked with the English actress Phoebe Dynevor and the Cruella star is married to comedian Dave McCary and the two welcomed their first child in March 2021.
